Oyster Worldwide Ltd - Travel Insurance

We continue to work with Global Travel Insurance Services Ltd to arrange a travel insurance policy specially designed with our projects in mind.

 We summarise below the details of the insurance cover provided which also includes 24-hour emergency service from Towergate Assistance. The following is a brief summary of the cover available. Full details of the cover, conditions and exclusions will be forwarded with your confirmation of booking. In any event you may ask for a specimen copy of the policy wording before booking should you wish to examine this in advance.

 

INSURANCE PRODUCT SUITABLITY

This insurance is suitable for persons whose Demands and Needs are those of a traveller whose –

  1. Individual round trip starts and finishes in the UK and is of no more than 365 days duration.
  2. Age is 65 years or less and is a permanent resident of the United Kingdom.

As this description contains the Key Features of the cover provided it constitutes provision of a statement of demands and needs.

 

Here are a few important key reasons why this policy is offered to you

  • The Cancellation cover is adequate to meet cancellation charges levied up to the full amount of all Projects. Other insurance products may not provide adequate cover in this respect.
  • This product covers all of the work involved in all work placements provided by Oyster Worldwide, other products may not.
  • A wide range of sports and other activities are covered as standard; others can be covered for an additional premium.
  • The policy can be extended during the trip and will cover extended stay before or after the work placement project.

Cover is provided for some sports and other activities as may be included within the work programme or made available during leisure time. Please see the policy for full details of what is included.  If you intend to take part in independently arranged activities outside of the work programme you must contact Global Travel Insurance who will be able to assist you.   

Specifically covered are the following -

Short Expedition in Chile or Brazil, Winter sports in Chile for the month of June, Tanzania short Safari, Himalayan short Trek including rafting.

A special feature of this policy is that you only need to declare your medical conditions if you are travelling to North America, Central America or the Caribbean.  If you are you will need to call Mediscreen on 0344 892 1698

Otherwise the Special Conditions of this policy are as follows:

  • No trip is booked or undertaken against medical advice or for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
  • If your health changes after the start date of your policy you must contact the insurer to make sure that your cover is not affected.
  • If you have a medical condition, you must obtain at least verbal confirmation from your general usual general medical practitioner that there is no reason why you should not travel.

 

There are also some main health exclusions that apply to all persons as follows:

  • Where you (or any person upon whose health the trip depends) have or have had symptoms which are awaiting or receiving investigation, tests, treatment, referral or the results of any of the foregoing, unless we have agreed in writing to cover you.
  • Any terminal illness suffered by you (or any person upon whose health the trip depends).
  • Any medical condition for which you (or any person upon whose health the trip depends) have within 12 months prior to the date of issue of this insurance been diagnosed with a medical condition or have been admitted or undergone a procedure/ intervention.
  • Any claims on medical grounds where you fail to provide a medical certificate or other suitable evidence from a medical practitioner of the need to cancel the trip.

 

This policy is only available to residents of the United Kingdom. The definition of residents of the United Kingdom is any person who is staying in or has lived in the United Kingdom for more than 12-months, or if studying or working in the United Kingdom for more than 6-months.
